The classic rum and Coke recipe is being challenged by Pepsi.

Step aside, rum and Coke. There’s a new contender in town, and its name is Pepsi. The soft drink giant is on a mission to revolutionize the world of cocktails by showcasing their superior taste when paired with the popular spirit.

As we all know, there seems to be a designated day or month for just about everything these days. And guess what? August is Rum Month, and companies far and wide are pulling out all the stops to revel in the celebration. Pepsi, being ever the innovator, has decided to throw their hat into the ring and initiate a debate as old as the drink itself: Coke or Pepsi?

Under the hashtag #BetterwithPepsi, this campaign aims to challenge the preconceived notion that rum and Coke are an unbeatable duo. Pepsi wants us to rethink our drink choices and consider the delicious possibilities that arise when rum meets the refreshing taste of Pepsi. And they’re not stopping there.

In a brilliant stroke of marketing genius, Pepsi has even worked their way into renowned rum company Captain Morgan’s own bottle. With a subtle yet undeniable secret Pepsi logo hidden within its design, it’s almost as if Captain Morgan has been covertly hinting at this impeccable pairing all along.

But this campaign isn’t all about gimmicky branding. Pepsi has the numbers to back up their claims. In a recent consumer preference survey, a staggering 56 percent of participants expressed a strong preference for mixing Pepsi with their spiced rum over Coke. And the research delved even deeper by consulting flavor experts.

According to Chef Kyle Shadix, PepsiCo’s corporate executive research chef for global beverages, rum has warm, sweet flavors reminiscent of caramel and vanilla, thanks to the aging process in oak barrels. Pepsi, on the other hand, brings crisp, sweet, and citrusy notes to the table, perfectly complementing the warm spice notes of rum, such as cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. This harmonious blend creates a smooth and well-rounded taste profile, perfect for savoring during those hot summer months.

But let’s face it, the ultimate verdict lies in the hands of the consumers themselves. To settle the debate once and for all, Pepsi proposes a blind taste test. Because, really, what better way to determine the true champion than through the unbiased judgment of our taste buds?

So, whether you’re a long-time rum and Coke devotee or a curious newcomer to the world of mixed drinks, why not step out of your comfort zone this Rum Month and give rum and Pepsi a try? You might just discover your new favorite summer cocktail. Cheers!

Is Kraken worth the £10 price difference when compared to Aldi’s Cassario Rum?

A Clash of Black Spiced Rums: Kraken vs Cassario

The world of rum is vast and diverse, offering a plethora of options that captivate the taste buds and leave consumers spoiled for choice. However, amidst this sea of rums, two contenders stand out – Kraken Black Spiced Rum and Aldi’s Cassario Black Spiced Flavour With Rum. Determined to unravel the truth behind their respective merits, I delved into a head-to-head comparison to settle the ongoing debate: which rum reigns supreme?

At first glance, the bottles bear a striking resemblance, sharing a similar color scheme with subtle distinctions in their artwork. Kraken’s bottle exudes an air of sophistication with its meticulously crafted shading and distinctive glass design, a signature of the brand. Conversely, Cassario’s bottle, although simple, holds its own with an understated elegance. Visually, both rums are enticing and would undoubtedly make a statement in any collection.

Moving on to the actual spirits, the similarities continue. Kraken, with its slightly higher price point, boasts an enticing aroma of caramel, toffee, and spice – a sensory experience I found quite accurate. Its flavor profile, dominated by cinnamon and vanilla, leaves a lasting impression, though the nutmeg note remains somewhat subdued. Notably, the 40% alcohol content gives way to a slight burn, characteristic of such robust rums.

On the other hand, Cassario presents a distinctly different olfactory sensation, emanating a citrussy sweetness that is impossible to ignore, with lime taking center stage. Its flavor profile promises vanilla, spices, coffee, and lime, culminating in a deep rum aftertaste. Personally, I found Cassario to possess a unique sweetness reminiscent of a cola cube, though lacking in the smoothness attributed to Kraken.

Having established their individual qualities, I must acknowledge the undeniable allure of Kraken. Originating from Trinidad & Tobago, this rum has solidified its status as a legend in the rum world. From the captivating opening aroma of toffee, allspice, and clove to the delightful notes of vanilla, ginger, and peppercorns, it is no wonder that Kraken holds a special place in many hearts (and liquor cabinets). In fact, I can confidently say that it is among the best rums available on the market today.

Both rums fare admirably when mixed with cola, allowing the mixer to shine while the individual nuances of the spirits take a backseat. Thus, for those seeking a rum suitable for parties and social gatherings, either Kraken or Cassario would make a commendable choice.

Yet, I must admit that Cassario, with its budget-friendly price tag and pleasant flavor, possesses its own charm. Whether incorporated into punchbowls or paired with cola or pineapple juice, this black spiced rum is a reliable option for casual rum enthusiasts looking to stock their home bars.

However, loyal fans of the Kraken brand may find themselves disappointed with Cassario’s divergence from the iconic Kraken flavor profile. For those who consistently reach for Kraken, the best course of action would be to stay the course and remain steadfast in their devotion.

In conclusion, the battle between Kraken and Cassario has shed light on their distinctive features and merits. While both rums offer an enjoyable drinking experience, Kraken emerges as the victor, capturing the essence of Trinidad & Tobago’s rum mastery and delivering a flavor profile that has garnered an ardent following. Nevertheless, for those exploring budget-friendly options without compromising taste, Cassario offers a tempting alternative that will meet your needs.

Ultimately, the choice rests on you – whether you embrace the legend of Kraken or embark on a new adventure with the humble Cassario, the world of black spiced rum eagerly awaits your decision.

An Unforgettable Whiskey Experience Crafted by Hemingway’s Master Distiller

Indiana, a charming four-year-old, became a part of an extraordinary journey guided by the expert hands of Jacob Call, Hemingway’s master distiller. Together, they embarked on a mission to create a whiskey that would capture the hearts of whiskey enthusiasts worldwide.

But what truly sets this whiskey apart is its unique finishing process. The whiskey is given a special nap in rum-seasoned Oloroso Sherry casks, which adds delightful spicy and fruity notes to the already mesmerizing 102-proof product. As a lover of floral and citrus profiles, I found myself completely enamored by the intoxicating blend of orange blossoms and Mandarin slices that danced on my palate.

Normally, I would reserve my rye whiskey for cocktail creations, but this particular whiskey demands to be savored on its own. It deserves its moment in the spotlight, and I couldn’t imagine diluting its magic by using it in a drink recipe. It’s almost as if Papa Hemingway himself whispered in my ear, encouraging me to indulge in this fine whiskey straight from a less-than-perfect glass.

Fortunately for whiskey connoisseurs like us, Tennessee is one of the ten states where the Hemingway Rye Whiskey Signature Edition will be readily available at retail. This means that we have the opportunity to bring home a bottle of this liquid gold and experience its undeniable allure for ourselves. Perhaps I’ll even consider picking up an extra bottle to ensure my future enjoyment.

In conclusion, I implore you to seek out this remarkable whiskey. Let it transport you to a world of literary brilliance and discover the artistry that lies within each sip. Trust me, this is an experience you do not want to miss.

A mother is furious as a restaurant mistakenly served rum shots to children.

Party Mix-Up at Sugar Factory Leaves Kids in Shock

Sugar Factory, known for its over-the-top milkshakes and famous Rainbow Sliders, has long been a go-to destination for exciting parties and celebrations. However, one family’s recent birthday celebration took an unexpected turn when a shocking mix-up occurred at the popular restaurant.

According to WSBTV, Souljah Perdue planned a visit to the Atlanta Sugar Factory to celebrate her daughter’s 11th birthday. As the party was winding down, they decided to order alcoholic shots for the adults and juice for the kids. Little did they know, the entire party would soon be in for a surprise.

“I couldn’t believe it. It’s something I never heard of. So I was really just like ‘How could they make this mistake?'” Perdue shared with WSBTV. In a video recorded by the mother during the birthday party, she can be heard instructing everyone to show her their shots. It quickly became evident that something was amiss as the children’s reactions indicated that there was more than just juice in their glasses.

“I start looking around. I’m looking at my daughter and seeing the other kids. They’re making noises and faces like, ‘Eww, I think it has liquor in it,'” Perdue explained. She promptly informed a manager of the dangerous mix-up and even recorded a conversation with an employee who admitted to serving the table shots made with coconut rum.

“There was coconut rum and pineapple juice. It’s a.5 of coconut rum. I accept full responsibility. Nothing should have come out of my bar that I’m aware of. And it should have not been made,” the employee confessed. Despite Perdue’s attempts to reach out to Sugar Factory’s corporate office, she has received no response.

“They’re still not answering no calls. They’re acting like nothing happened,” she lamented. The lack of accountability from the corporate office has left Perdue frustrated and seeking justice for the alarming incident.

It is essential for establishments like Sugar Factory to prioritize the safety and well-being of their patrons, especially when it comes to serving alcohol. Such mix-ups can have severe consequences and should be treated with the utmost seriousness.

Hopefully, Sugar Factory will take prompt action to rectify this incident and ensure that stringent measures are in place to prevent similar accidents from happening in the future. As for Perdue and her family, their hope is that this incident serves as a reminder for restaurants and party destinations to prioritize customer safety above all else.

A restaurant mistakenly served children rum shots, causing a mother to become outraged.

Title: An Unexpected Twist at Sugar Factory: A Birthday Party Gone Wrong

Introduction:

Sugar Factory, renowned for its extravagant milkshakes and vibrant Rainbow Sliders, has always been a go-to destination for parties and celebrations. However, a recent incident during a family’s birthday celebration at the Atlanta Sugar Factory has shocked both patrons and the public alike. As WSBTV reports, what was supposed to be a joyous occasion quickly turned into a distressing turn of events.

The Mistake:

Souljah Perdue, accompanied by her 11-year-old daughter and their party, visited the Atlanta Sugar Factory to celebrate the special occasion. When they requested alcoholic shots for the adults and juice for the children, they never anticipated what was about to unfold. To everyone’s astonishment, the entire party received shots containing alcohol instead of harmless juice.

The Shock and Response:

Perdue expressed her disbelief, stating, “I couldn’t believe it. It’s something I never heard of. So I was really just like ‘How could they make this mistake?'” Disturbed by the situation, she began recording video footage of the birthday party. In the video, she can be heard asking everyone to show their shots, sensing that something was amiss. The children’s reactions, characterized by noises and distasteful expressions, confirmed their suspicion – the glasses contained more than just juice.

Taking Action:

Concerned for the safety of the children, Perdue immediately informed a manager about the dangerous mix-up. She also recorded a conversation with an employee who candidly admitted to serving the party shots with coconut rum. The employee showed remorse, stating, “It’s a.5 of coconut rum. I accept full responsibility. Nothing should have come out of my bar that I’m aware of. And it should have not been made.”

Lack of Response:

Regrettably, Perdue’s attempts to contact Sugar Factory’s corporate office have gone unanswered. Frustrated, she shared, “They’re still not answering no calls. They’re acting like nothing happened.” Despite her efforts to seek resolution and clarification, the silence from the corporate office remains deafening.

Conclusion:

Sugar Factory, once renowned for its decadent treats and celebratory atmosphere, finds itself entangled in a concerning incident. The shocking mix-up of alcoholic shots for children’s juice during a birthday celebration has left one family questioning the restaurant’s commitment to safety and customer satisfaction. As the affected family eagerly awaits a response, it remains essential for all establishments, regardless of their reputation, to prioritize the well-being and experience of their guests.

Fort Ligonier and West Overton have partnered together to host a whiskey tasting event and sales in honor of Arthur St. Clair.

**Raise Your Glasses to Arthur St. Clair: A Toast to Westmoreland County’s Founding Official**

It’s time to celebrate! Westmoreland County’s historic Fort Ligonier is partnering with West Overton Distilling to bring you a limited-edition whiskey in honor of one of the county’s founding officials. As we commemorate the county’s 250th anniversary and pay homage to the influential Arthur St. Clair, the fort will be hosting a special tasting and sale event on August 12th. Get ready to experience St. Clair’s Spirits, a meticulously crafted white rye whiskey distilled from rye grown at West Overton Village in East Huntingdon.

Join us on August 12th from 7 to 9 p.m. for an outdoor extravaganza at the reconstructed 18th-century British frontier outpost, conveniently located at routes 30 and 711 in Ligonier Borough. Beyond the exclusive tasting opportunity, the event will feature a delightful Whiskey Sour cocktail made with St. Clair’s Spirits, delectable food provided by the locally revered caterer Simply Good, and toe-tapping live music by the dynamic Pittsburgh-area duo Common Ground in the Lower Fort. Trust us; this is an occasion you won’t want to miss!

Mary Manges, the fort’s executive director, enthusiastically shares, “Fort Ligonier wanted to commemorate the county’s 250th anniversary with a very special project and event.” She further explains that the whiskey and tasting are intended to highlight St. Clair’s remarkable journey as an early political and military leader—an “immigrant success story,” as she calls it. Born on March 23, 1737, in Caithness, Scotland, St. Clair’s impressive resume includes serving as an officer with the British Army during the French and Indian War and taking on the role of caretaker for Fort Ligonier after its decommissioning. In 1764, St. Clair settled in the Ligonier Valley, where he dedicated himself to serving Westmoreland County as prothonotary, clerk, register, and recorder. He even sat as a justice of the first English court west of the Allegheny Mountains, located at Hanna’s Town, which is now part of today’s Hempfield Township.

But St. Clair’s contributions didn’t stop there. Applying his military expertise to support his adopted homeland, he became an aide-de-camp to none other than George Washington during the American Revolution. St. Clair rose to the rank of major general and went on to serve as the president of the Continental Congress in 1787, as well as the governor of the Northwest Territory from 1788 to 1802. Today, you can find the parlor from one of his homes—The Hermitage, originally situated along Route 711 north of Ligonier—on display in Fort Ligonier’s museum.

In line with the county’s significant milestone, St. Clair’s Spirits will be a truly exclusive treat. Only 250 bottles of this extraordinary whiskey will be produced at West Overton’s educational distillery. This venture marks the first time since the 1800s that a whiskey has been distilled from rye grown at West Overton Village for an outside entity. The birthplace of Old Overholt, often regarded as the oldest continuously maintained brand of American Rye Whiskey, West Overton certainly knows a thing or two about distilling excellence. Patrick Bochy, West Overton’s co-executive director, notes, “There are not many products as uniquely tied to American history as whiskey. Whiskey has endured rebellions and wars, temperance movements, and even Prohibition, all while remaining a driving force in America’s growth.”

Don’t let the opportunity to raise your glass to Arthur St. Clair pass you by. Be sure to register for the St. Clair’s Spirits tasting by August 7th. You can visit fortligonier.org or call 724-238-9701 to secure your spot. The cost to attend is $25 for members of Fort Ligonier or West Overton Village and $35 for non-members. Additionally, a 375 ml bottle of St. Clair’s Spirits will be available for purchase during the tasting event, as well as on Saturdays at West Overton and on select dates at Fort Ligonier.

Let’s come together to celebrate history, honor the remarkable achievements of our founding officials, and savor the taste of St. Clair’s Spirits—a whiskey that captures the spirit of Westmoreland County like no other. Cheers!

Fort Ligonier, located in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, is known for its rich history and contributions to the county’s development. This year, in honor of the county’s 250th anniversary, the fort has partnered with West Overton Distilling to create a limited-edition whiskey named St. Clair’s Spirits, paying homage to one of the county’s founding officials, Arthur St. Clair.

On August 12th, Fort Ligonier will host a special event where visitors can indulge in a tasting and purchase of this white rye whiskey. The whiskey is unique as it is distilled from rye grown at West Overton Village in East Huntingdon. Taking place outdoors at the reconstructed 18th-century British frontier outpost, the event promises a memorable experience.

Arthur St. Clair was born in Scotland in 1737 and became a prominent figure in both political and military spheres. He served as an officer in the British Army during the French and Indian War and later took on the role of caretaker for Fort Ligonier. After settling in the Ligonier Valley in 1764, he played significant roles in Westmoreland County, serving as a prothonotary, clerk, register, recorder, and justice of the first English court west of the Allegheny Mountains.

He later became the president of the Continental Congress in 1787 and served as the governor of the Northwest Territory from 1788 to 1802. Today, Fort Ligonier’s museum proudly displays the parlor of one of his former homes, The Hermitage.

The creation of St. Clair’s Spirits aligns perfectly with the county’s 250th anniversary celebration. Only 250 bottles of this special whiskey will be produced at West Overton’s educational distillery. This marks a significant moment, as it is the first time since the 1800s that whiskey has been distilled from rye grown at West Overton. The distillery holds historical significance as it is the birthplace of Old Overholt, the oldest continuously maintained brand of American Rye Whiskey.

To join in the festivities and taste St. Clair’s Spirits, interested individuals must register by August 7th on the Fort Ligonier website or by calling the provided number. The cost of attending the event is $25 for members of Fort Ligonier or West Overton Village and $35 for non-members. Additionally, a 375 ml bottle of St. Clair’s Spirits will be available for purchase on the night of the tasting event, as well as on select dates at Fort Ligonier and Saturdays at West Overton.

Whiskey holds a significant place in American history, having weathered rebellions, wars, temperance movements, and even Prohibition. Patrick Bochy, West Overton’s co-executive director, emphasizes the enduring nature of whiskey as a symbol of America’s growth and progress.

This collaboration between Fort Ligonier and West Overton Distilling not only offers a unique tasting experience but also serves as a testament to the county’s historical legacy. By honoring Arthur St. Clair and his remarkable achievements, this event encapsulates the spirit of Westmoreland County’s 250 years of growth and success.

Delta has been accused of providing a man with 10 vodka drinks before he sexually assaulted a mother and daughter on a flight.

**Title: Ensuring Passenger Safety: A Call for Accountability in the Sky**

In a shocking incident that has sparked outrage and legal action, a mother and daughter allege that Delta Air Lines failed to protect them from a sexual predator during a transatlantic flight. The disturbing details of the incident, which occurred on a flight from JFK Airport to Athens, Greece, have prompted serious questions about the airline’s response and the safety measures in place to protect passengers.

The victims have filed a lawsuit against Delta, citing gross negligence and seeking compensation for their traumatic experience. According to court documents, the attendants on the flight allegedly turned a blind eye to the victims’ pleas for assistance, even as the intoxicated individual seated next to them became increasingly belligerent. Shockingly, it is claimed that the man was served 10 vodka drinks and a glass of wine during the nine-hour flight.

Despite the victims’ repeated requests to address the situation, the flight attendants allegedly disregarded their concerns and urged them to be patient. It was only after the situation escalated, with the perpetrator verbally harassing and inappropriately touching both the mother and daughter, that some action was taken. However, the response from the attendants, who merely told the man to “stop talking” to the victims, was insufficient and only further fueled the man’s anger.

The gravity of the incident intensified as the man’s actions became more brazen. The teenager experienced a panic attack, seeking solace in her mother’s lap, only to have the assailant reach under her shirt and touch her bra clasp. The mother, too, was subjected to unwanted advances as the man ran his hand up her thigh. In a desperate plea for help, the victims requested a seat change, but were met with dismissive responses from the flight attendants.

Fortunately, a fellow passenger stepped in to offer assistance, occupying the seat between the victims and the assailant for the remainder of the flight. Upon arrival at the destination, however, Delta’s response continued to fall short. Shockingly, the airline allowed the perpetrator to disembark without reporting the incident to local authorities or the relevant US agencies. To add insult to injury, the mother and daughter were offered a mere 5,000 airline miles as recompense.

This tragic ordeal serves as a stark reminder of the critical importance of passenger safety and raises concerns about the protocols in place to protect individuals on flights. Delta Air Lines, like other carriers, has a solemn duty to ensure the well-being of its customers. The alleged failure to address the victims’ pleas and the inadequate response to the incident are deeply troubling.

While Delta has emphasized its commitment to customer safety, this incident lays bare the urgent need for reform and accountability within the airline industry. Efforts must be made to strengthen training programs for flight attendants, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills to handle and defuse potentially dangerous situations. Additionally, stricter regulations and protocols should be enforced to prevent the over-serving of alcohol to passengers.

Passenger safety should always be paramount, and incidents like this must be thoroughly investigated and addressed to prevent further occurrences. Airlines must be proactive in addressing such incidents promptly, cooperating fully with law enforcement agencies, and ensuring appropriate action is taken against those responsible.

As travelers, we place our trust in airlines to not only transport us safely but also to prioritize our well-being throughout our journeys. By holding airlines accountable for their actions, we can work towards creating a safer environment for all passengers. No one should endure what this mother and daughter experienced, and it is our collective responsibility to advocate for measures that guarantee their safety and security while flying.
