According to local news outlets, a disagreement over the responsibility of paying for beer escalated into a heated argument between neighbors. The situation quickly spiraled out of control, leaving one person shot and injured. The Houston Police Department was alerted to the incident around 11:15 p.m. on Saturday, August 13.

Witnesses at the scene revealed that the dispute arose when both individuals laid claim to purchasing the alcoholic beverages for the gathering. Tensions continued to rise until one individual, described as a 30-year-old man, fired his gun into the air. However, instead of diffusing the situation, he proceeded to aim his weapon at his neighbor and began shooting.

The 39-year-old victim was struck twice by the gunshots, causing significant harm. Fortunately, the Houston Fire Department swiftly arrived, and paramedics promptly rushed the wounded individual to a nearby hospital. The latest update suggests that he is now in stable condition.

The alleged shooter initially fled the scene, leaving everyone stunned and fearing for their safety. However, to everyone’s surprise, he later returned and voluntarily surrendered to the police. The Houston Police Department wasted no time in taking him into custody.

Authorities have confirmed that the suspected shooter is facing charges of aggravated assault and has been booked into the Harris County Jail. It is a grim reminder of how a seemingly innocuous argument can turn deadly in the blink of an eye.

Lakeland is about to welcome an exciting new dining establishment, as Food + Beer prepares to open its doors next week. This Sarasota-based sports bar, owned by Casey Daniels and Mike Whalen, is expanding its reach with its sixth location in Lakeland’s Merchants Walk. But don’t let the simple name fool you – this place is anything but ordinary when it comes to food.

Unlike your typical sports bar that serves frozen food, Food + Beer takes pride in offering unique dining options that are made from scratch. Daniels and Whalen, who met while working as restaurant managers, wanted to create something special together. And so, in 2018, Food + Beer was born.

From burgers to wings, the menu at Food + Beer has gradually expanded and become more complex. Tantalizing options like wings tossed in homemade PB+J sauce and the “You Jel?” burger with chipotle cream cheese and jalapeño pepper jelly showcase the creativity that goes into each dish.

But the excitement doesn’t stop there. Food + Beer will also feature a seasonal menu with specialty dishes and cocktails that change four times a year. With 16 beers on tap, a full wine list, and a liquor license, guests can expect a wide variety of drinks to accompany their meals. Vegetarian and vegan options, including the popular plant-based Impossible Burger, are also available.

Of course, being a sports bar, Food + Beer knows how to cater to football fans. With 38 flat-screen TVs, customers can enjoy the big game while indulging in delicious food and drinks.
