Dennis Martin, 62, donned a towering puppet-like outfit as “Skully the Pirate,” reflecting the joy of the celebration.

For many, Gasparilla transcends mere festivities. Jim Arena, a long-time participant and member of the Krewe of Sant’ Yago, emphasized the tradition of community service tied to the event.
