Passionate college football fans are always seeking ways to support their teams and give them an edge over the competition. And what better way to do that than by enjoying a cocktail? Foundry Distilling Company in West Des Moines, Iowa, has come up with a unique idea to cater to these fans. They have partnered with multiple NIL collectives in the SEC and Big Ten to produce custom vodkas that not only represent the school spirit but also contribute directly to the school’s collective.
Several notable schools such as Tennessee, Alabama, Iowa, and Ohio State have already announced their partnerships with Foundry, and more collaborations are in the works. As part of these partnerships, the collectives receive 25% of the sales revenues, which they can use towards NIL deals with athletes. Foundry’s vodkas are made from 100% corn, pot-distilled spirits, giving them a distinct sweetness. The suggested retail price is $24.99, slightly higher than popular vodkas like Tito’s, but fans can take pride in knowing that their purchase supports their favorite school’s collective.
Founder Scott Bush, an Iowa native and alumni, recognized the potential in combining his product with opportunities to benefit athletes when the NCAA allowed athletes to profit from their NIL. Collectives pool resources from fans and boosters to make deals with athletes, ultimately fostering a mutually beneficial relationship.
Foundry’s success and expertise in collaborating with individuals and groups for their Private Barrel Club, where unique brands are developed one barrel at a time, positioned them perfectly for these partnerships. While each collective’s vodka shares a similar flavor profile, they are uniquely filtered to create a distinctive product.
Looking ahead, Bush expressed interest in expanding Foundry’s collaborations to include whiskey collections. With a good supply of high-end whiskeys, he believes that limited-release whiskeys would be highly appreciated by fans and add another dimension to the partnership.
In the meantime, fans can enjoy their game-day Bloody Marys with pride, knowing that their drink supports their student-athletes. Foundry’s innovative approach to tailgate beverages offers fans a way to contribute to their teams while indulging in a high-quality, great-tasting vodka.
