A chaotic scene unfolded on one of Sydney’s busiest motorways when a truck transporting beer collided with another vehicle, leading to significant traffic disruptions. The crash occurred on the M1 at Mooney Mooney, near the Hawkesbury River Bridge, prompting emergency services to respond promptly.
As a result of the collision, cartons of beer spilled onto the roadway, creating a mess of broken glass and debris across the northbound lanes. In the aftermath, two of the three northbound lanes were initially closed, but one lane has since reopened to relieve congestion.
Motorists have been advised to expect delays and allow additional travel time as clean-up crews worked hard to clear the site. A recent update from Live Traffic NSW confirmed that while two lanes are now open, northbound traffic remains heavy, and drivers should exercise caution and reduce speed.
Despite the incident affecting only the northbound lanes, the overall traffic flow has been impacted, causing other commutes to move more slowly as a result of the cleanup operation.
