Big News for Charlotte Beer Lovers: Protagonist Beer is Brewing Up Something Exciting!
Change is in the air for the popular Charlotte brewery, Protagonist Beer. After four incredible years at its original location in NoDa, the brewery will be making a move to a bigger and better space. But don’t worry, it’s not a sad goodbye – it’s a thrilling new chapter in the Protagonist Beer story.
Let’s rewind a bit to when Protagonist Beer first opened its doors in NoDa. Back in 2019, the brewery unveiled its R&D nano-brewery, lovingly referred to as “The Clubhouse.” Housed in the former NoDa Grocery space, it quickly became a go-to spot for beer enthusiasts. With over 20 taps, beer cocktails, and delicious small bites, The Clubhouse was a beacon of craft beer excellence.
But as Protagonist Beer continued to grow, they realized they needed more space to cater to their ever-expanding fan base. And thus, a year later, they added another location in South End, complete with a pizza kitchen. This bold move allowed Protagonist Beer to distribute their brews throughout Charlotte and beyond, solidifying their status as a beloved and influential player in the Charlotte beer scene.
But here’s where the plot thickens. When Protagonist Beer Co. first opened in NoDa, the owners had contemplated a second location in Optimist Park before settling on the South End. Little did they know that fate had something different in mind for them. And now, their initial vision of expanding to Optimist Park is becoming a reality.
Protagonist Beer’s new home will be at The Joinery, a splendid space near Optimist Hall. This innovative apartment building is the first of its kind in Charlotte, with a strong focus on trails and transit. It’s the perfect setting for Protagonist Beer to continue crafting their exceptional brews. The two-story spot will offer not only an impressive selection of beer but also full liquor options and delicious food, including breakfast and brunch. And for those seeking a bit of exclusivity, there will even be a private event space with a breathtaking view of the uptown skyline.
Exciting, right? We couldn’t agree more. Sadly, we don’t have the official dates for the closure of the original NoDa location and the grand opening of the new spot. But we can assure you that it’ll be well worth the wait.
So mark your calendars, follow Protagonist Beer on Instagram (@protagonistbeer), and get ready for a whole new chapter in Charlotte’s beer scene. Protagonist Beer is about to take it to the next level, and we can’t wait to be a part of it. Cheers to the future of craft beer in Charlotte!
