Post Views: 287

BROOK PARK, Ohio –

Disorderly Conduct on Smith Road

On June 15, at around 8 p.m., a Brook Park man was taken into custody for disorderly conduct after he caused a scene at a gas station on Smith Road. Police were called when he refused to leave the Shell station. They found him stumbling outside a nearby Circle K, carrying an unopened can of beer.

Despite his level of intoxication, the man denied causing any disturbance. Officers informed him that they would escort him to a MetroHealth System hospital due to his condition, which prompted him to lose his temper and throw his wallet on a police car. While attempting to walk away, he was handcuffed, and officers discovered a small bottle of vodka in his pocket. When taken to MetroHealth, he exhibited hostile behavior towards the medical staff.

Fleeing from Police in a Jeep

On June 12, a driver in a Jeep Grand Cherokee led police on a chase around 8:30 p.m. The pursuit began when the driver made an illegal U-turn on Fry Road and ran a red light. Though police attempted to pull the vehicle over, the tinted license plate cover prevented them from identifying the vehicle.

The chase continued onto I-71 northbound, where the Jeep reached speeds of 97 mph. However, police eventually terminated the pursuit for safety reasons near the I-71 and I-480 interchange.

Shoplifting Incident

At approximately 2:45 p.m. on June 14, a theft involving 15 cases of Red Bull occurred at the Giant Eagle on Snow Road. Witnesses reported seeing a man fleeing the scene with a shopping cart filled with the energy drinks. He was later identified as a 29-year-old Columbia Station resident, with police tracing his vehicle’s license plate back to his home. The suspect was already wanted for a parole violation pertaining to a previous burglary charge.

Counterfeiting Attempt

At Quick State Liquor on Smith Road, an unidentified man attempted to purchase a bottle of Woodford Reserve using a counterfeit $100 bill that bore the phrase "For motion picture purposes." The transaction was interrupted when the store employee realized the bill was fake and reclaimed the bottle and change before the man could leave.

Theft of Catalytic Converters

On June 12, two buses parked outside Mr. Formal Transportation on Engle Road were reported missing their catalytic converters. The theft is believed to have occurred either late on June 11 or early on June 12. An early morning patrol on June 18 revealed one bus with flashing hazard lights and led police to confirm that its catalytic converter had also been stolen.

Drug-Related Arrest

A 36-year-old woman from Cleveland was cited for possession of narcotic equipment around 9 p.m. on June 16. Police stopped a Ford Taurus after it stalled at a green light. The backseat passenger, who had visible signs of recent drug use, was found in possession of hypodermic syringes. She was a known fugitive wanted for multiple offenses, including drug possession and larceny. The driver received a citation for a traffic violation.
