Golf enthusiasts in Naperville are in for a treat with the upcoming launch of Clubhouse540, an indoor golf simulator business located at 1466 Chicago Ave. The venture recently secured approval from the Naperville Liquor Commission to serve beer and wine during play and is now awaiting confirmation from the City Council, which will consider the proposal in an upcoming meeting.
Clubhouse540 plans to occupy an almost 3,000-square-foot space that was previously home to Score 18 Indoor Golf. The facility will feature five golf simulator bays equipped with Full Swing technology, the official simulator of the PGA Tour. General manager Tom Schaefer has been a golf fan for years and aims to create a family-friendly atmosphere where patrons can relax and enjoy virtual golf experiences.
Schaefer has lived in Naperville for about a decade and, together with a long-time friend and business partner, decided to launch this venture after researching the golf simulator market. They chose to start from scratch instead of franchising to create a unique environment that appeals to local families.
In addition to golf, Clubhouse540 will offer a variety of gaming options, including basketball and soccer, alongside certified instructors for all ages and skill levels. While snacks and soft drinks will be readily available, alcohol sales will depend on the City Council’s approval. The business aims to maintain a balance where at least 60% of its revenue comes from non-alcoholic sales, complying with local regulations regarding recreational liquor licenses.
Schaefer has expressed confidence in the concept and excitement about bringing it to Naperville, with plans to expand to additional locations in the future, starting with Greenville, South Carolina. The business is projected to open by July 1, 2025, and is looking forward to providing a new recreational option for residents.
