Los Angeles is bustling with excitement tonight as a thief takes in the city’s nightlife. But what he’s really taking in is a nice cold beverage – probably stolen from another unsuspecting victim. The criminal is enjoying his ill-gotten gains, content with the knowledge that the law is unable to touch him. But in the back of his mind, he knows that’s only a matter of time. Until then, he’ll keep raising a glass in the city of angels. Someone made off with an estimated $600,000 worth of high-end bottles from Lincoln Fine Wines in Venice this past weekend, the Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday. Most of the shop’s cellar, home to the rarest and priciest wines, had been cleared out.
This brazen theft is the latest in a series of wine-related heists in the area. Last October, a suspected burglar was apprehended after allegedly attempting to break into a Beverly Hills residence and make off with hundreds of bottles of wine.
Police are currently searching for the perpetrator, but details are scant. The store has said little on the subject other than that management is “looking into the situation” and appreciates everyone’s patience.
No matter who is responsible for this crime, it’s yet another reminder of the threat posed by crime to wine enthusiasts and collectors alike. One can only hope that the police capture the thief and the stolen bottles are recovered. Nazmul Haque, the owner of a store, recently expressed his devastation to the L.A. Times regarding the loss of his collection that he has been building up for 10 to 15 years. He was in fear of not knowing if he will ever be able to emotionally recover from this.
Just imagine the amount of time and effort put into a 15-year project of creating a collection and seeing it dissolve into thin air. It is a heavy burden for anyone to carry, and our hearts go out to Nazmul for his experience.
We urge anyone who is in a similar situation to seek support from family and friends. It is essential to have an open dialogue and discuss what you’re feeling so that the problem can be identified and addressed.
We are sending our sincerest thoughts and best wishes to Nazmul and anyone with similar troubles. It was a rough night for Lincoln Fine Wines when, at 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, an unidentified person made their way into the store by cutting a hole in the roof. It was reported that the thief took bottles of Burgundy and Bordeaux from the store, with the most expensive being a $4,500 Chateau Petrus 2016. Other bottles taken included a 1994 vintage from the Corton-Charlemagne family, a 2008 Bonneau du Martray, a 2018 Louis Latour, a 2019 Domaine Roulot, and a 2020 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey. These bottles ranged in price from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand.
Managers of the store, Nick Martinelle, expressed his disappointment and was deeply disturbed by the events that took place. Security measures have been taken to ensure that something similar doesn’t occur again.
This incident serves as a warning to other businesses. All these measures can be taken to prevent unwanted visitors from stealing from your store. Customers are advised to be vigilant as well and to ensure that their valuable products are secured. Do you struggle to find the motivation to get things done? No suspects have been apprehended, but there is a lingering suspicion that the perpetrator may have been someone intimately familiar with the store.
Owner Tahsin Haque said that the thief or thieves appeared to know exactly which bottles to take: all of the most expensive items. The elaborate heist was orchestrated in broad daylight without any witnesses.
While the perpetrator has yet to be identified, Haque and his co-owner Melanie Martinelle believe that the burglar had knowledge of the store’s layout. Additionally, they noted that security cameras and sensors had been disabled earlier in the week. Furthermore, some have suggested that the burglary may have been an inside job, though Haque has declined to speculate.

Take your pick of the best with Robb Report! No Thanksgiving dinner is complete without a good turkey. But this year, why not opt for something unique—a heritage turkey. Not only is a heritage turkey a special treat for your dinner guests, but it’s also healthier and tastier than a typical grocery store bird. Here’s why a heritage turkey is the perfect choice for your Thanksgiving feast.
A heritage turkey is a breed of turkey that’s been around for centuries, before large scale commercial farming. These turkeys have richer, deeper flavor because they’re raised in open pastures, roaming freely and foraging for food. They’re also leaner than grain-fed birds, so they don’t become as dry during cooking. Plus, they offer incomparable flavor which is why many chefs opt for a heritage turkey.
Another big bonus is that buying a heritage turkey supports special farming practices that help preserve this classic breed. Many heritage turkey farmers take great care in protecting the breed and have worked closely with groups like the Livestock Conservancy to ensure the heirloom species remains safe from extinction.
If you decide to take the plunge and buy a heritage turkey, you’ll want to do it well in advance. Supplies are limited since they’re not as widely available as conventionally-raised birds. The American Livestock Breeds Conservancy has a list of heritage turkey farmers that you can order from, as do many local farms and farm-to-table restaurants. You can also look online for a reputable source.
Get your heritage turkey order in soon so you’re sure to have this special holiday bird for your Thanksgiving dinner. You won’t be disappointed with its flavor, and you’ll be helping to support an important cause. Are you a fan of Pinot Noir?
